Taste of Gelato Day

The event that pushes to discover the best in innovation, taste and technology of artisanal ice cream in Europe returns as always on March 24

March 24 celebrates the excellence of one of the most beloved gastronomic products in Italy and around the world, ice cream. Gelato Day, European Artisanal Gelato Day, has from its origin the purpose of promoting the culture of gelato and the creative experimentation of those who work with it. That’s why thousands of gelato shops open their doors every year for events, tastings and experiences inside their spaces, giving customers and critics moments of pure happiness, surprise and taste, and CIAM is looking forward to discovering what the gelato artisans using its showcases will be able to produce.

The European Day of Artisanal Gelato is the only day that the European Parliament has so far dedicated to a food, a symbol of its power in the collective imagination, in the hearts of consumers, and in the market it is able to move. In fact, Europe leads the way in terms of the presence of ice cream parlors, with more than 65,000 outlets and 300,000 employees, and Italy alone moving a turnover of the artisanal ice cream supply chain of 3.8 billion euros, employing more than 100,000 operators.

All ice cream shops participating in the Gelato Day initiative will also surprise their audiences by participating in the international “Taste of the Year” contest, which rewards talent and creative genius in the creation of unusual and exceptional flavors. Each edition it is up to a different country to choose which flavor to try their hand at, drawing inspiration from their traditional roots: this year it will be the turn of the “Gaufre de Liège,” the sweet waffle, crispy outside and soft inside, typical of Liège.

CIAM invites you to join the initiative and spread the excellence of ice cream around the world, an experience made of technique, emotion and technologies that make it possible to achieve the highest quality.
